These are the same flowers that appeared in a previous post last week, but taken more recently. Their shade of yellow is a nice contrast to the background, I think that's what draws me to them.

This feels like a mini portrait of nature. I wish I were around the natural world more often; most of my time is spent surrounded by brick and concrete.

The grass is always greener...

We've been seeing these flocks of birds flying around our neighbourhood the past few evenings and I was fortunate enough to have my camera ready at the window to get this shot. It's amazing to watch them swooping in unison across the sky.

If you look closely you'll see a second flock off in the distance in the bottom left corner.

The words in this post have been appropriated from Dr. Seuss' The Hair Book, one of my all time favourite's from childhood...of course, I changed the words around a bit. I dearly loved my entire collection of Dr. Seuss, and look forward to passing them on one day.

I feel like this post is going to solidify my reputation as a crazy cat lady...

I snapped a random shot of myself in the mirror to use as practice while I was going through some tutorials online, and it reminded me of a shot of my kitty Sophie peeking around the corner that I got earlier today. I thought, why not put the two peeping buddies together? It may look strange, but this project isn't about making perfect pictures, it's about experimenting as much as I can while I get through the whole learning process.

Good morning world! I realized I haven't done a post on a Friday since I started working at the beginning of August; I have a tendency not to come home straight from work, sometimes staying out until quite late (and usually I am not in the best state of mind to be doing photography at 2am). So I thought I'd outsmart myself and post in the morning before getting ready for work. Happy Friday!

Motion blur kitty! I love my fur babies so much, I couldn't imagine life without them. Those blurry black smears on the bottom are my other cat trying to get in on the action, he always needs to be in the center of everything.

I almost didn't make the post today, but realized I need to push myself sometimes to just do it anyway. I'm glad I did, I like the textures of flowers when they're dying. It's not a morbid thing, I just think they look more appealing with all those interesting crinkles and discolouring...if only it were a common way to view people as well.

Sammy the snail catching some sun! My mother has about, oh let's see, maybe a trillion do-dads all over her backyard, I just love them.

Summer is fading fast; in fact, I think the first day of fall is toward the end of this week.
Boo! I'm going to miss these beautiful colours once the browns and greys of winter set in.

Here's another shot of the same flowers, they were so pretty I couldn't post just one.

Spent an amazing weekend with my beautiful mother. Work keeps me busy and it was really nice to get a chance to spend some time with her.

...all alone...I sit home by the phone...waiting for you...

Another day, another sunset. Too beautiful for words.

(unfortunately I wouldn't have been able to make it up to the roof on time to get the shot, so I had to take it from inside the apartment through double paned glass.)

Looking forward to Friday and socializing with the other animators from work, it will be really nice to get a chance to talk to them outside of the studio. Inside there's not a lot of opportunity to get to know anyone other than the token "good morning" and "see you tomorrow".

I absolutely adore books. I buy several online from Amazon every month, I just can't help it. I usually have several books on the go at one time, but I rarely read fiction. I read so much fiction when I was younger that it just doesn't appeal to me much anymore.

This was shot on my walk home from work...not the most exciting post, I know. I need to figure out some kind of routine that leaves a bit of time to work on this stuff, it seems as though I'm busy from the moment I get home until I half crawl, half drag myself into bed.

I've taken a much needed break the last few days to recharge my batteries. Hopefully this week will be a little more restful than the last, and I can get back on track with this project.

Yep, it's a kitty paw. It's about all I can manage today; I'm about to face plant into my keyboard any moment now and really need a break from the computer. Enjoy!

It was the most beautiful sunset tonight, really and truly I swear this one was more amazing than any other I've ever seen. I know all sunset pictures pretty much look the same, and they're never as great as they are to see in person, but I just cannot stop myself from photographing and posting them.
Maybe it's something inherent in human nature.

This is my sister-in-law's cat, he is such a beauty! Very inspiring for photography, if I'd had more light I would have taken many more of him.

Spent some time with family yesterday and had a really nice, relaxing dinner. Got to see my adorable little nephew, though it was hard to get clear shots since it was in the evening and the light was low. This post is the best one I was able to get, I thought it was a really cute moment.

This is straight out of the camera, no editing done. I just like the intensity of the sunlight and how warm the colours are.
