Beautiful setting sun reflected in the city skyline. The rooftop patio of our apartment building officially closes tonight and I never got around to renting a wide angle lens. Next summer perhaps?

This is in the back alley behind a vegan restaurant on Queen St. I thought it was pretty cute, much better than the lame graffiti on the back of the convenience store.

All this gloomy weather lately is keeping me indoors and I don't like it.

I'll be totally honest, this gorgeous shot was taken by my husband. It was edited by me though, so it's sort of like a team post today. The most interesting part of it is where the sun is glinting off the cars in the distance. Usually there's just white lights on one side, red on the other, but farther back everything is gleaming bright white. Amazing.

There's something about this shot that makes me happy. Maybe it's the boats, maybe it's the water, but most likely it's the turtle sunbathing on the floating tire. Ah, the good life.

Surprisingly enough this photo was taken on a walk fairly recently, even though it deceptively looks like the summertime. It's amazing how fast the seasons are changing.

I realize this one is just a silly post taken with an iPhone, but I love it anyway. Sophie is gettin' her drink on at home with her mom and dad. I wish she were looking right at the camera, that would have made it just perfect.

I took this on a recent walk around the neighbourhood. The fall colours won't last much longer so I'm trying to appreciate them as much as I can. I'll miss the leaves when they're gone, but I guess winter brings its own unique beauty to capture.

It seems to be getting harder and harder to post every day. Hopefully I can do some double posts this week to catch up. At first I thought "that's cheating!", until I realized that this is my personal project and I get to make the rules. That doesn't mean I'm giving up on this thing though. The truth is, I'm pretty disappointed in myself for letting it slide the past weekend. Maybe a new camera accessory (I hear a manual flash calling my name) will get me motivated again.

This post is the result of having pure fun on the computer after work (as if I don't already spend ten hours a day on the thing). Sometimes it's great to just experiment without any real goals or ideas in mind, then it becomes more about the process than the result, which can be very liberating for uptight artists (like me!).

Here's a light picture to brighten up this rainy evening. I was completely soaked after walking home from work and thought my umbrella was going to bust in the wind, but I still think it was a better decision than cramming on the ttc with a crowd of rain soaked people.

Two more from the same day:

I haven't been feeling like myself the last few days, maybe even the last few weeks. My brain doesn't seem to want to work for me, it feels like I'm in a fog and it's hard to see clearly.

Today's post is all about birds; it might get repetitive, but I just can't choose one photo to post, there are so many unique shots and I've never had so many opportunities before to capture the birds from their vantage point. This is definitely one of the perks to living on the top floor of a high rise. Below the shots are posted in the order that I took them, it was really quite amazing to watch them. (by clicking any photo you can view it large sized.)

...and then they were gone.

I've taken a short break for some much needed rest, and I think it was worth it. After sleeping for most of the beginning of the long weekend I'm back in the game and feeling the itch to take pictures again.

I came upon an old halloween costume which is in the forefront of the photo. I liked the crinkly material and how much light was coming through it, I think this is one of my favourite posts that I've done so far. Below are a couple of other shots I was playing around with this afternoon.

I'm not really sure what's going on in this post.
She was alternating between attacking my socks and cuddling up to them...I couldn't decide whether to be mad or say "awww". I decided to do neither and snapped a photo instead. I like the light that surrounds her paw by my leg.

Yes! Finally, a post that doesn't involve cats or flowers. I caught this photo walking home with my little snapshot camera, so the quality isn't the best, but the light coming through the overpass was so beautiful that I just had to stop and capture the setting sun in all its glory.

It's been feeling like fall outside lately, but a little birdie told me today that there's a taste (tease) of summer weather coming up this weekend, and it's the long weekend. Life is fantastic.

Today was a Monday I actually enjoyed, fresh and well rested from the weekend and gearing up with gusto for the remaining week at work. It's going to be a challenging one, we had an extended deadline last week which means a shortened deadline this week. I've got all kinds of energy to burn though, so Tuesday - I'm ready for you!

Sunday 2 October 2011

Enjoying the most relaxing weekend I've had in quite some time.
A little bit of cleaning, a little bit of cooking, and a whole lot of couch time in pyjamas...just the way I like it.

Though unfortunately a day late, this post is a special one. It's dedicated to the memory of my grandfather who passed away ten years ago yesterday. I miss him very much, and I know that his light still shines somewhere and that he watches over the family.
Love you Grandpa.
